Now that I have my driving permit, which is a not a full license, but a permit allowing me to learn to drive, I have about half a year to learn to drive, and then take the driving test after I turn eighteen. Last week, my uncle took me to a carpark and let me drive around using his car. It was my first time driving, and I drove for about an hour and a half. I couldn’t get precise control over the brakes and the accelerator, but I didn’t expect much since it was my first time. The sudden bursts of acceleration, and jittery braking... Everyone does that right?

Unfortunately, that is probably my last time in the driver’s seat for some time. No, I did not crash his car. No, I did not spoil anything. My uncle found out that I am not legally allowed to learn to drive in his car because I do not have car insurance. Since the type of insurance that he and the family buys is attached to the individuals rather than the cars, whatever bad things that happen when I am driving in it will not be covered, and so, I won’t be driving it anymore. Instead, I can hire a driving instructor, and drive his car, which is properly insured. But there is no point in hiring the instructor this early, since the driving test is so far away.

On to other things... I picked up my long lost skill of playing the piano recently. I never really liked any of the pieces I played when I was learning the piano, which stopped just short of six years ago, so I forgot every piece of music I played, except one. And that one is definitely not representative of what someone passing Grade 2 Piano should be capable of, and I am not proud of that at all. However, I am very surprised at how quickly I could pick up new pieces with ease, as though I never stopped learning. It feels as though I picked up from where I stopped years ago. That shows just how well my piano teacher have taught me.
